Winstons Life Up To Date!

 Story:
Winston originally lived with a lovely family here in North wales but due to unfortunate circumstances had to be rehomed, he now lives with Clarissa and Kendrick

OK, I am a dog person and thought that having had two Ro0ttie bitches for twelve years I knew about big dogs. I was wrong. We seriously decided that a Pyr was for us and without too much ado, we found ourselves with a 9-month old male called Winston. He had lived in Wrexham close to where he was conceived and we thought that at nine months old he’d be pup sized. We were wrong. I picked him up from Jan’s house one Thursday (he’d been left alone most of the day and made a Pyr noise at great volume – no surprise there) so I drove home back to Highgate in London where we live.
That was all back in late February this year. Winston is now approaching 17 months (and 70+ kilos) and he was so anxious about being left alone he’d eat carpets, furniture, letters, shoes and laundry (why never invoices) we had to nurture him to learn we were OK folks. Having such a big dog is not easy. Firstly in the house, he takes up loads of space. Secondly, with his inborn guarding instinct he has proved he really has a serious BARK. He is very protective of the household.

Living with Winston is a dream both good and bad. Bad bits are he snores like a drunk elephant. He is emphatic in doing what he wants to do (sulking is very good)
– all dogs do that – but he is the most wonderful dog to spend time with. He is enormous, hairy, molts his hair, barks when a fly crosses the window, sleeps wherever he wants (he is not allowed upstairs as the back end does not talk to the front when descending stairs) and when ‘laid out on the kitchen floor he covers three base units, each if which measures 600mm. Almost a 2 metre dog when stretched out. The good bits outweigh everything. He is a great chum and even likes out two cats and he looks out for Robbie our eight year old Lhasa Apso (we call him our glove puppet).

Winston is a very good traveller and we bought a folding ramp to help him in and out of the car which is a 4x4 and rather high off the ground. He is very friendly to other dogs we meet on walks and has made quite a name for himself locally. In short, he is a star and is the best thing we’ve ever done. Oh by the way, he does a blog a few times a week at Winstonsbigdogblog.blogspot.com

Smoo Life Up To Date!

Story:

Smoo lives with Becky and Russ and their lovely family

To say Smoo is a part of our family and lives now would be a huge understatement!! He is like my 5th child, just like the others he can sulk ( boy can he sulk lol ) he can be loud, messy and drive you to the point of pulling out your hair!! But just one look at those eyes and all is forgiven!!
Smoo is very stubborn, he knows what he wants and has us all wrapped around his claw to deliver! But what we get in return makes everything worth while. He is a big dog with a big personality and his heart is just as big and he loves our family with every single bit of it, as we do him. He is very protective of us and our home ( or should I say his home!) but he hasn't an aggressive bone in his body, he really doesn't need to have with his bark!
Smoo is my childrens best friend, when the kids go off to play, smoo goes too. There is no more wonderful sight than 4 kids and their Pyr led watching telly

Our home wouldn't be home without him and 18 months on I'm still so thankful to Jan for the wonderful opportunity to own such an amazing boy!

Jester Life Up To Date!

Story:
Owning Jester has been the most wonderful life changing experience. Its crazy to think that 18months ago we carried this this little ball of fluff away from Jans home is Wales and now here we are. It feels like we have been on an 18month learning curve and no doubt it still hasnt finished yet as there are more things we will learn about Jester and pyrees in general over the years to come which we very much look forward to. The first lesson we learnt with Jester was that normal dog biscuits were unacceptable and he must be fed with fresh cooked chicken and other goodies and starvation on his behalf would not be a problem if that's what it took to prove the point that he is a king and should be fed as one lol!. Jester being an addition to our family is the best and we absolutely love him to pieces!! he's such a big part of the family we wouldn't and couldn't be without him for the world. He really is a proper member of the family and i mean that in every sense of the word because just like any other family member he even has his own spot on the sofa! We love Jester to pieces and he's the best dog anybody could ever ask for but he's far from the easiest dog to ask for. Nothing about Jester is easy!! He has always been a challenging dog which we see as both good and bad. He was not easy to train, he can be very stubborn and independent, he is very very loud, he snores and farts just like any other male!, he leaves mountains of hair all over my carpets, he is messy, he dribbles and slobbers everywhere, he was and is time-consuming and he is generally quite a demanding dog. Although he does have his not so easy to deal with bits all the good and positive bits about him outweigh anything bad. He is a giant dog but he has a giant heart and personality to match, he absolutely adores and loves his family!, he is so loyal and protective over his family and his home, he is so gentle its almost untrue, he makes us smile everyday, he is always there for us, he gives amazing cuddles! lol, he is so trusting in us, we can do anything with him and he doesn't mind, his is kind, our hearts melt every time he gives us that look (you all know that look!) and when he looks at us with those eyes...enough said. All in all he is just a great dog and companion. Thank You Jan for giving us the amazing opportunity to own and learn about such an amazing dog. Pyreneans are a brilliant and amazing dog to have if you have what it takes to handle one and bring them up, if you want a dog that is eager to please, will lick you face and do what its told then this is not the doggy for you. If you want a challenge in your life and are prepared to take on a demanding and time-consuming dog that grows into a giant takes up all the space on the sofa and the floor and that needs a lot of handling and quite a bit of slobber wiping up then the pyrenean might just be the dog for you. If you have never met a pyrenean and you are interested in one we would definitely recommend spending some time with pyreneans to get to know them before you take one on as this is what we did before we got Jester and we feel like it helped us a lot in making our decision and knowing fully if the dog breed was for us and what we was going to be taking on

Faith & Saffi's Life Up To Date!

Story:
Faith and Saffi stayed with us here at Dennaje ‘ double trouble ‘ and although Faith took to the showring like the proverbial duck to water alas Saffi decided it just wasn’t her scene and became frozen to the spot when thrust into the limelight ‘a shame as she is lovely but alas you can’t make a dog do what is obviously not the right thing for them ‘ so she will be staying with us solely as a pet, whilst Faith continues to ‘strut her stuff ‘ .

Ziggy Life Up To Date!

Story:
Ziggy lives with Rosalind and Anthony.

I'm happy to say that we are privileged to live with the most beautiful and amazing dog in the world, Ziggy. She has the best temperament ever - she is gentle, affectionate, cuddly, but also pretty lively and mischevious. For ages I just thought we hadn't managed to train her very well, but I now realise she has been training US all this time, so that's okay....She loves being out and about and seeing people and she has quite a fan club and a fair few friends, being the only Pyr on Southampton Common. I can't (and don't want to) imagine life without her - we really couldn't be happier. Unlike what the others are saying she hardly ever barks (maybe cos she's a girl and less territorial?) except when playing, charging about or rolling around on her back, but when she does - oh boy! Am not sure the electricity man will ever be quite the same again, but never mind! Seriously, we love her very dearly, and can't recommend Dennaje highly enough.
